S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl Message Board  

Those who buy S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl and download it with Steam, have trouble using mods.
This is a quick way to make it so you can use mods. It worked for me (trader mod ftw).

Step 1:
Go to "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\stalker shadow of chernobyl" or wherever your STALKER folder is located.

Step 2:
Create a folder named "gamedata" inside of your STALKER folder.

Step 3: Open the "fsgame.ltx" with notepad (open, choose program from list, "Notepad".)

Step 4:
Look for this line: $game_data$ = true| true| $fs_root$| gamedata\, and make sure it is "true| true|". If it isn't just put "true" where "false" is. DO NOT CHANGE ANY OTHER LINES!

Step 5: Place mod folders (config, textures, scripts, etc) in "gamedata" folder.

Step 6: Start game and enjoy your mods Or their mods... I'm confused now.



If this doesn't work just post, I'll I try to figure out why it doesn't work for you.

Feel free to post this wherever people have trouble with Steam and STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl mods. Now, please excuse me while I go show those monsters creeping around the corners of lab X18 what happens when you make me nearly wet myself when they jump around the corner and scream and attack me when I have the lights turned off and the volume up on my headset.
