Rainbow Six: Vegas Message Board  

Anyone have any problems patching this game? I keep getting a message saying it can't find the game directory. Exact message is "Could not retrieve installation folder. Installation will be aborted". I have the patch file saved to my desktop does it need to be in the game directory to work? If so where specifically does it need to be placed? I'm also using the latest 1.05 patch do I need to download previous versions first?

If you are running Windows Vista:

Right click on the patch installation exe
Select "Run as Administrator"
If UAC prompts, click on continue

As far as i know you have to Upgrade One-by-One. Meaning Patch 1.01, then 1.02 and so on. If this doesn't help you any it might be a problem with the Registry, try reinstalling then.

I just found out the game is a cracked copy so would this be the reason for the patching problems?

I did try to install the first patch with the same problems.

You need to have the original exe to patch any game.
