like are certain dogs specific to to each game pack? like you can only get a golden retriever from the gamecard out of a box with a retriever on it?

Some dogs are exclusive to games, and some must be unlocked via Trainer Points. Of course, with the help of other people you can unlock dogs that are exclusive to other games like the German Shepard (it's true, they do exist and I confirmed that by the help of one of my friends ).

Carbon:
Won Career x3
Done Challenge Series
300k points with Corvette

Nintendogs:
8 dogs
Gotten to Championship for Disc
Star handler

Mario Kart DS:
Finished all races
Done all missions
