Yeah but F1 doesn't affect the tuner scene at all.
never said it did... I'm saying that since civics were made by one of the leading brands in F1 cars, some people tend to buy those cars...
errr. nup.
just because honda makes F1 cars doesnt mean that people will want to buy a honda.....
where did u get that stat from???
MaxG i think ur kinda losing it here.
- Great drifter
- Great handler
- LOADSA kits available for it at low prices
- Cheap
- Basic engine allows virtually ANY modifications allowed, such as Supercharger AND Turbocharger
- Light
- Readily available
- NEVER understeers
- A revolutionary icon in 1986, when it featured the first-ever DOHC engine
These are just SOME reasons why the 86 is so popular. For many, it was a childhood dream to grow up and buy an 86. That's why there are so many in the tuner scene today.
PLUS one more reason.
the anime and live-action movie - Initial D.

then they must be off their knocker too. no offence
Getting off topic now, so let's settle this.
MaxG, just because SOME guys would buy a honda civic because honda are in F1 doesn't mean the WHOLE tuner scene is influenced by manufacturers in F1. If that's the case, then why is Nissan dominating the tuner racing scene? They're not in F1, are they? And where's all the BMWs, Mercs and Ferraris? They are in F1 but not in the tuner scene! ZOMG!
You have to consider practical factors in as well. Like the influence of movies and cartoons (Fast and Furious, Initial D etc), car prices, availability etc. People don't go off buying the cars of their dream straight away. It takes a lot of work to do that.
And Quikdeath, what MaxG said was not something a patient in the Betty Ford center would have said. It was a perfectly valid suggestion, albeit not as exaggerated as MaxG told it. It DOES happen, people ARE influenced, but only a minority are so.
Issue settled. So let's get back to the topic, shall we?

I never said everyone... I was saying SOME PEOPLE not ALL PEOPLE... but it does make a difference to some people... some like their civics... (I dont personally) I'm just trying to defend all of those who do out there... BMWs are in the tuner scene btw, but mercs and ferraris aren't because they are more likely to be exotics... since those are luxury or super-cars.
