It's better to get your Alteration skill up so that you can cast lock opening spells at low mana costs. Ths spells are a better option then to buy lockpics and just use them until you get the skeleton key.

why use lockpicks when you could use aliteration make it a major skill and use the spell open very easy lock on any door for about 30 minutes and it would be at level 100 also it increases your magic each level you gain by 5 points so no need for lockpicks untill u get the skeleton key
