~no... he didn't die.... ~silly.... ~if you are able to finish d' game,u probably wouldn't ask... ~coz in mission 19..when u are about to deplete the vitality gauge of that huge jelly like creature,VERGIL WILL APPEAR!! it's like he only fell to that huge crack but he didn't die,He just disappeared for a while so dante would have a reason to own the Beowolf(haha) no kidding i think that's what is running in the minds of the creator of this game... sonce vergil killed beowolf...
~so that's it.. vergil didn't die.. he would be back in mission 19 while you are fighting the huge jelly like creature which is the devil Sparda in Jester's body... (that's why maybe it looked like a moron monster!!hahaha
and oh!! i almost forgot!vergil will be fighting along with you and beat the hell out of that creature... then in the last mission... in mission 20... you 2..(dante and vergil) will fight until vergil is thrown out to the demon world... THE END.....

Looks like in DMC4, Nero has Vergil arm probably since vergil sword become live (or repaired since at first it is torned apart) because of his hand. Just watch it in Gametrailers
