First I want to say thanks for a great mod. It took a lot of time and effort to put out a good quality mod like this. There was one thing you missed though. Nothing big, but you forgot to modify the NSS Gar config files. Once I figured out how you modified the speed on it, I did. Again, very good mod. I'm extremely pleased with it.

Yes great mod, but it has some bugs... For example when your sub gets damaged, after repairing diesel engine and etc. you cannot play any more the game, because the sub cannot move any more and when you trie to get to a periscope depth or. yust a bit into depth, it cannot be surface again, becouse it gets diving uncontroled... YOu cannot save the game and noting. You have to restart all again...

First problem: Check that the crew in the cabin is still alive. I have never had this problem myself.
Secound: This is hardcoded in the game, so I can't do much about it. Had the problem myself, but solved it by repairing all cabins that might be damaged before diving. However, I do not recommend diving after taking on a battleship head on and recieved several hits, as the sub will sink if you submerge. Again, this is hardcoded so I can't do anything about it.

I've experienced this many times, but it's usually when I've been shot up too badly. Sometimes the effect can be countered by going full reverse. Seeing as you can outrun almost anything in reverse, at least you can limp your way back to port that way.
A tactic that seems to prevent me from getting shot at by destroyers, is to sneak up on them from behind (and a little off to the side, so the gunners don't think they're hitting your own bow), and then blow the ballast tanks. At that range, it only takes a few seconds to sink a destroyer, and the destroyer crew doesn't have time to react. A quick crash dive later, and nobody knows what happened.
You can sink larger vessels (light/heavy cruisers, etc.) by way of cannon fire, but make sure you pick off all the destroyers first, and stay as far away as you can from your prey, as it'll take a long time to get rid of a cruiser.
You might be able to sink battleships and carriers that way too, but I imagine that will take ages. Best to get rid of all the lesser vessels first, and then torpedo the big ones from close range.
With a little practice, you can even use the cannon for shooting down aircrafts...
Yup, the game is completely ruined.

The SpecialLocalAbilities.upc file under UPCCrewData has LAbilTorpSpec3 which can be used to increase torpedo speed. The local abilities seem to remain active even when the bearer is resting or asleep, and can function with other local abilities at the same time.
