I noticed that the blue background Town Militia (French, Spanish, and English so far) have no upkeep costs when garrisoned. However, the grey background Town Militia does not say this when you hold the cursor over them. Are they charging upkeep when garrisoned. Same goes for Crossbow, Pike, and all other militia. If the upkeep costs are for one and not the other, what makes one blue background vs grey? Anyone else notice or question this?

some buildings allow for a number of troops to be garrisoned for free and these "free" units have a blue background. and Germany(Holy Roman Empire) has this too.

Is the number of troops set, or does it vary by city/castle? I'd like to cut some costs, and garrison costs are killing me.

it is based on the level of the city... you should read the description of everything you build..
Its nice to be important, but its more important to be nice.
