I can't get beyond that mission where you have to shoot down the core parts from destroying the system (first tng mission with the stargazer)

Does anyone have an autosave or something else to get past this one mission ... I've tried it 20 times the last 5 days at least and well, I'm basicly stuck in the game and can't get any further (since I actually payed for this game that's rather annoying)

    Help would really be appreciated

I ended up having to sell all my ships and get the fastest scout ships available and diverting all energy to the engines.

The rocks are very easy to destroy the problem is there are so many of them it takes too long for larger ships to turn and get into firing range.

I put my main ship and one scout on the left side (since it seemed to get the most rocks) one in the center and another scout on the right.

The real hard part is after the turrets become available you have to divert one ship from defense to tow them around.

I took the one off the right side and used it since by then that side was pretty secure and just kept an eye on it. The first turret you should place is on the left side since if you take too long even with two ships on it the planet will be destroyed and you lose.

After the left one was placed I moved the main ship back to the right side (by then it had started to get crouded) after that you should be pretty much set. Place the rest of the turrets and your done.

It does take a bit of luck but after half a dozen tries thats what worked for me.

which kind of ships did you use exactly? im using the best one i think (the last enterprise class - Sovereign) and its still not enough.

do you have a savegame after this mission?

Everyone is having problems with this mission. I moved all of the turrets into position to protect the planets but they just won't stop showing the sqaure to put them in. I even put 3 turrets around the place that they were coming from and nothing would allow me to proceed to the next level.
