I have gotten Diana to the temple. She has cut the vegatation to the left of the entrance, over the statue. I cannot get her to cut the vegatation to the right by the alligator head. What is the problem?

You don't have to cut the vegetation. Just get Java to get the serpent head and let him sit with iton the place you had cleared of vegetation. His weight is enough to activate the mechanism.
