does anybody have any hints on how to win the chocobo race with a time of 0:00:0 any help would be apriciated

The only time you shouldn't try to get a balloon is if you'll hit a bird trying to get it (since birds stun you and add three seconds to your time, you'll be sacrificing more than you gain). When a bird comes toward you don't be scared to turn heavily left or right, when they hit you, you will loose more time than if you turn on a 90° angle and back).
