Great care was taken to make sure this game wasn’t just a feast for the eyes of flight-sim fans. It has a large variety of real world aircraft and a great story set in a parallel reality.
The game looks and plays terrifically. In the PSX installments of the series, the ground looked OK until you got too close to it, in this one they have taken it a step further to include many and varying 3D structures and different terrain that looks pretty good even when you’re at less than 100ft.
The spray from the water, if you’re that low, is also a fine addition.
Instead of the same feel and rate of climb for every aircraft, you really notice the change from an F-18A to an A-10 tank buster or an F-117A to an F-14.
Game play is classic Ace Combat, flight stick style, with the option of real world or novice control interfaces. This is surely a ready made classic.

One thing I didn't like about this game, is that your plane seems bigger than the houses, buildings, ships ect.

Perhaps the scaling isn't 100%, I've noticed that too, but for the most part (against ships and buildings) the aircraft are reasonably sized. Take into account also the perspectives in the game - until you see the impact area in the water next to a ship when you crash, you don't realise how small your plane comparably is to the object.

Of course you can't, but the expert controls (pitch, yaw and so on) are a step closer. What 'things' are these you refer to anyway? This isn't a USAF training simulator you know.

Still, this is a really great game, nonetheless. The later versions (AC:5 Unsung War and the AC0: Belkan War)
