i could't get the navel stuff to work.

it doesn't seem to work for me, it allways says err. can't recognise unit type.
Do you have include the { and }?
anybdy plz help me I beg you guys.

I'm sorry I forgot something:
are the empty spaces between for instance roman and triarii on purpose?

To answer the post above, yes, leave the spaces in.

After some experimentation I found that a lot of the cheats do not work unless you update Rome Total War. I'm not sure what version I started on, 1.0 or 1.1 I assume. I patched the game to version 1.3 and then to 1.5. All of the cheats now work, all of the time, not once per gaming session, multiple unlimited times!

I found out how to get create_unit to work with naval units. You add the unit to the group of ships rather than the city. For example:

create_unit "Admiral Oppius" "naval corvus quinquireme" 5 8 8 8

This is exactly as I typed it in.

If you want to know exactly what the other units are look at the text file in {game directory}\data\export_descr_unit.txt. I installed the game in the default directory so mine is at c:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\data\export_descr_unit.txt.

The 'type' fields in the file identify all of the units by the names you need to use the create_unit cheat.

is it possible to use the create_unit cheat to make units of different factions like Cathaginian Elephants?

when ever i put in the numbers for expirience, armour level and weapon level with the create unit cheat, it never actually shows up. what am i doing wrong? this is what i put in: create_unit "Apollonia" "roman arcani" 5/9/3/3
should i put it in as this instead: 5 9 3 3?
