Um, just because there are different buttons to use and control your car, doesnt neccacerialy (sp?) make a difference. Its all about the timing. I suggest using Manual in racing because you should never crash in a race.
Why is manual better?
Because you can always hit the perfect shifts, you just need to occasionally check your gauges. In auto, the needle goes a bit into the red area meaning it over revs, and if you havent caught on yet it means that you dont gain as much speed when you shift. But in manual since you control when you shift, you can just tap it as soon as its in the right spot.
But use Auto in pursuits because when you hit roadblocks or ram into other polcie cars, you will have to shift down yourself and then shift all the way back up when you leave the roadblock.

i mena as far as where buttons are located on the keyboard. The buttons could be wicked far away from each other making it harder to shift for the people using PC's if you know what i mean

Hmm, that depends a bit...I can still pretend to steer using my right hand and pretending that TAB was shift up. Its pretty easy. But then again that would be pretty hard manouvering your car with just one hand.

but then you have to factor in all of the other buttons, like speedbreaker and all of that other stuff which could be anywhere on the keyboard.

True. I think it would be MUCH easier using an Xbox 360 controller. They are really much easier to use than a PS2 controller once you get the hang of them...well, thats what my mate says. Hes got one .
But, out of PC or PS2, Id usethe PS2, but if I could have a PS2 or PC for anything, I would have the PC. .

it could still be a pain though because for someone who plays PS2 or another gaming system the controls would be hard to get used to. you would probably be trying to hit a control that isn't there cause i have done that before. Xbox 360 for me is wicked easy to use but i still prefer PS2 because that is what i use most of the time.
