jeez,....if i can remember well its right before you fight the boss which is a lava lookin' spider the boomerang should be in the room that is protected by two lava centipeedes. Defeat the two centipedes by:first stand still and let them come to you and when they rear up to attack just hit them in the eye with your sword after they are hit they retreat into a ball, you have to rush and attack them wile they are in this state becouse they dont stay like this for long so you have to be quick. Once they are both defeated the fire around the treasure chest will die down and there you have it!
As for getting into that room all i remember is that you have to use your grappling hook and swing from platform to platform to reach the doorway. I'll play the game and try to see if this right, if it isnt right i will right another post to you personally that has the right info

Dungeon 2: Forbidden Woods
Fight a Flying Mothula. Take out the leaf you get, blow a gust at him, it'll stun him. Smack him with your sword. Do the parry attack. Repeat until dead. Yay the boomerang.
