I have come up with a dilemma and I thought this site would should be the best place to ask about it. My godson came to me and asked about "hax" for growtopia(propably because he has seen me cheat in video games). I have taught him about ethical gaming(what it does mean to get banned etc.), but I have no idea what say about cheating in general. I can't even remember the age when I started to cheat and nobody told me anything about it, so my own experience is no use here. So my question is: Are there any parents/educators who have experience in teaching about cheating in video games? Any help is appreciated.

When the only person the cheating affects is you, it's OK. If it helped or hampered your fun, that to is a learning experience. Soon as it affects other people, your now taking their fun away and nobody wants there fun taken away in a game.

add or take what u want from that.

for me, after throwing 6 $50 controllers thru the wall after failing to get that last collectable, it is my fiscal responsibility to cheat LOL 😋

Were I in your shoes, I wouldn't even say I AM cheating. You're not playing online in a multi-player or MMO type game with the trainer, you're playing by yourself for your own entertainment.

Sometimes I like the stealth aspect in a game. Other times I like to hack and slash. Sometimes both in the same game. Plus, I usually hate farming. The trainer basically allows you to do those things on demand, you're not cheating anyone. The name 'cheat' in CheatHappens is mostly a clever marketing aid.

Like Cypher said, if you do it for an advantage to someone else's disadvantage, that's cheating. That's how I see it anyway. I'm pretty sure you're not wanting to have to explain why you're cheating anyway. Fortunately, you're not.

Personally I have to admit cheating in any form is bad/wrong. But in the sense of gaming. It can be fun. I will never condone cheating online, as that effects other gamers experience. Which is not a good/nice thing to happen. I have had that happen on me.

When it comes to single player. I personally will have two saves. One for cheating on and another for legit play. Why you might ask, since am on a trainer/cheat site. Because I enjoy both sides of the coin or I want all the damn cake to myself!

I get the fun from being able to slap on unlimited, no reload and unlimited health options. Why? Because some days it will take most of my frustration from real life away, mowing down enemies god like shouting abuse at them. Then there is times I will jump on to the legit and get stuck right in working out how to pass maze of work out the puzzle without cheats because after it feels great going I have done it myself.

The best advice I would say is when it comes to gaming. Cheat the game not the gamer. Meaning do not cheat online.

One if my daughters loves to play the FNF games, she likes to be jump scared. I showed her how a trainer functioned and she asked if I was a hacker, I laughed and said no its called a trainer, it makes games more fun some times.

She asked how long I had used stuff like this and honestly it goes all the way back to game genie on NES when I was her age. I explained as long as your using it in solo play, and not tricking other people in multi play games there was nothing wrong with it.

Some times she asks for me to load a trainer some times she plays without one, but honestly its a game, its not math class, shes not cheating in school, and she does understand what it is and why you use it.
