someone put steam in offline mode, turn their internet off, and try and see if you can run the game

this game likely is mmo online and requires connection to server.

Hey Caliber,

I just had to reinstall my pc cause of this stupid conflict between nvidea and AMD drivers giving me BSOD errors but anyway back to the topic at hand.

I just reinstalled steam and this game. Booted steam in offline mode. And the game works fine and launches normally.

Believe the multi-player part is optional.

Checked... it's online only if you use the cloud save(the game's, not Steam's) feature. That turns on the multi-player stuff, otherwise it's a single player game.

so you guys unplugged your internet from the wall and were able to play the game?

Yes, I first started steam in offline mode. Then I unplugged my ethernet cable from my pc and made sure the ethernet adapter and WIFI adapater were both disabled. Then I booted the game and I was able to play.

It does ask you to log in or register. But you can just click on the red X and continue playing.

Just saw that this got moved down to the retired section, not sure if we're gonna get a trainer for it or not now.

On the plus side here. I don't know if it's allowed but I managed to find a hacked Android version of the game. If ya go grab blue stacks and then load up the apk you'll end up with a whole crap load of money, which makes the game a lot easier to get started and keep going. It also un-restricts your fleet size. I was running around with 8 1st Rates and pretty much kicking the crap out of anything I ran across.
