"... I purchase my Desktop PC complete with windows from a store..."

Which in no way prevents you from modifying it as you choose.

"...people who build their own may decide to use an alternative OEM,"

I'm guessing by "OEM" you actually mean "OS". You can pretty much install any OS of your choosing on nearly any machine.

" I wonder why the minority do choose a different OEM,i.e. cost, preference..."

I chose the OS I run because I value my freedom and security more than I do any other aspect of computing. Granted, I'm an old man compared to most of CH's userbase so what computing means to me is probably very different than someone a decade or more younger than I.

Windows 10 is here for at least 9 years or until 2025 I have this information from a 1st class authority Microsoft will keep making Windows 10 better and better as time goe's on

My dad works at Nintendo and he says that if you install windows 10 backwards without resetting your computer, you can play as Sonic!

For gaming, Windows is the only real option. Yes, you can run games on Linux through WINE but that isn't a sure fire solution and Linux isn't always the easiest OS to get used to, especially when it comes to understanding volume/disk management.

That being said, the Enterprise version of W10 is great provided you can get your hands on a Volume License copy. Through an acquaintance I was able to source one but from what I hear people may be able to buy s subscription based version now too. Though I'm not sure how one would go about doing that.

I been using Windows for 20 years now and personally I would like to use linux but its rather annoying for. I will never touch mac's or its OS as I have hated that company for years to and never like Steve Jobs either. I have never had issues with windows at all in security or otherwise.

@Mirraluka I wont change because its free. To me the changes they made were and are pointless the additions are pointless the whole redesign was pointless. Win 7 for me does its job I dont get issues with software not working like on win8, 8.1 and 10 because of the OS. I dont have issues with the trainers failing to run because of the way windows set its secuirty on 10. The only thing that majorly ticks me off it DX12 only on win 10. Which I hope will be rectified. Or I will not be using Dx12. Al just work around that. Which will be annoying but if it means not having to use Microsofts shocking win 10. Then so be it.
