Try it without the cheats its fun to 😀 normaly i will say no but this game is even fun without it.
Each to their own i always say, but with this recent patch of the game 1.0.2 i am on about, it will remove any factions you have created with the trainer, but it seems it leaves the saved games alone for now, but if you use the trainer, you will have to create the faction over and over and over and over again.
Having this issue as well^
It is intentional, the custom races are deleted if they exceed what the minimum traits or Ethics are allowed, if you use the trainer to get every since trait, which costs more than the 2 trait points and you have no negative traits to allow more points used, then when you next run the game, it will delete the custom race.

Aw but where's the fun in that?
Not sure if some know, but you can also increase your "cash" by doing instant researches, constantly in the tech tree. Same for minerals and food, it also works for the amount of planets you can occupy, you can keep increasing it, i'm currently at 25 planets that i can occupy. Hope this helps.
How exactly?

Press the tilde (~) key while in-game (may be different per-keyboard) and then, after selecting various research (they'll tell you if it grants a +5-10% buff for either resource), type in finish_research. If you don't see the tech available, you may need to enter research_technologies to get access to the end-game tier repeatable research, but it is slightly game-breaking in the sense that you're instantly able to utilize ALL technology. 😀
About the problem someone got with a "cheated" race, finding that also some AI races are "cheated", I think that when the game choose randomly the AI opponents it chooses amongst ALL the available races, including the customized ones (and thus, the "cheat", just changing the basic race traits but leaving the rest (with their basic pro/cons). That's the reason we find some races with many traits.
My suggestion is, to avoid creating a "cheated" race, then once in game, edit your own race in the race panel. Using the console command to finish the research instantly, the effect will be immediate.
IMHO.

How can you edit race traits after you get in the galaxy? Tried to find it, but so far, no luck.
