this "game" came out on steam and was quickly destroyed and removed due to it being classified as junkware.. now I am reading conflicting articles with jumbles of versions and what exactly this game was or is now..
is this an actual game, or some sort of marketing gimmick for the actual next real freddy game? does this thing even warrant a trainer?

It is an actual game, it was removed from steam on Scott's request because he wasn't happy with the reviews and felt he'd released it too early. He then re-released it for free on Gamejolt (offering refunds to those that had purchased it), and has been updating it since. It can still be installed on Steam by sticking steam://install/427920 into a browser.
That said I don't think it needs a trainer on the basis that you can edit the save file for tokens, characters etc. It's only stored in a text file. Just adding a start-with-everything-unlocked save file for download should be sufficient to cover the game.
