I just remembered one that was released not so long ago, and is based on an article on a website called SCP foundation, which is obviously all made up but done very well, one article SCP-087 deals with a stairwell that supposedly goes on forever, but the more you go down the darker and more evil it becomes.

The game does it very well, I played it and found some good tense moments in it :P

There's an older series called F.E.A.R. if you haven't played it yet. This is from the description in F.E.A.R.3:

I think FEAR-1 was the best followed by 2. FEAR-3 had some playability issues.
