Be careful. I had the game set to private offline yesterday when playing and today the game changed that to public online all by itself. I was playing campaign mission and some player dropped in! I quit the game straight away, as in the 6 and a half years I have had my Steam account I hadn't accrued one VAC Ban.


I am worried that will change now. 😮

I wonder if that's because of the Community Bounties they run? I forget if I was in the base game or playing The Following DLC but I joined that Community Bounties thing one time which is where the whole community's kills are lumped together and it seemed like after that they just kept putting my kills into the Community totals and counting them towards the Community goal that day.

Never had any problems from using the Trainer tho and I played the game quite awhile. That was a coupla months ago though so that could have changed. Joining Community Bounties is probably a bad idea if using a trainer.

I have the game sitting in my library and I haven't played yet cause I just couldn't find the time to do it.
When I do start playing - is playing in offline mode without VAC really safe to use with the trainer? I don't want to get a VAC ban for a single player game.

Also, might be a stupid question but is it possible to still unlock achievements while in offline mode?

The post is basically statements from Valve about the VAC in the game, but what worries me is this specific line I noticed:

Third-party (Trainer, CE, SweetFX, Reshade etc.) = (VAC Ban Risk: High)
Triggers Ban when in a VAC protected Lobby, offline singleplayer & non VAC secure Lobby should be safe according to valve, no confirmation to be safe by techland yet.

So I am asking again - is it really safe to use cheats by just turning off VAC or playing offline?

Far as I can see, most of those postings are from early 2016. I played the SP main game and The Following DLC this past November and had no problems at all. I used whatever was offered such as offline, No VAC, no invasions, etc. and used the Trainer the entire time.

I would avoid doing those Community Bounties and such as I mentioned above though. It's such a tiny part of the game it won't be missed at all. The game and trainer were a blast. I thought The Following was even more fun than the main game so don't miss playing that, too. Trainer at that time worked fine in both.

Is that a guarantee? Of course not. But there's really no reason to think anything negative will happen to you that didn't also happen when I played and I had zero problems with bans, notices or anything else.

I don't really care about the online features of this game, I just want to be able to play the single player and unlock achievements while using the trainer without worrying about getting banned.

I never play MP. I played SP in Dying Light and The Following while using the CH trainer and loved it. I never had any problems bro.

I played DL and the Expansion for 85 hours overall in Singleplayer and went hogwild with the cheat happens trainer. Just disable all Multiplayer Features and make sure you play offline.
DL is a really great game and the CH trainer makes ist SO more fun :-)
