I just played through the first chapter of the game just today and I don't remember any lock picking in the game so far. What part of the game are talking about exactly?

Been awhile for me so I looked on IGN:

Lockingpicking is avaliable after choosing the Wyatt storyline; deciding to sacrifice Fergus to save the young private; Probst Wyatt. Specific locked doors throughout the large, open areas in the story missions can be opened by picking their locks in a easy mini game style task.

To pick a lock, match up the green arrow on the edge of the circle you are ajusting with the 3 pins. The arrow must be held at the beginning of the row of pins until they all unlock.
