Success! At last Here's my story
I've had some problems getting the last couple of trainer updates to work for this game, so I decided to do a bit of investigation to see if I could figure out why it used to work perfectly for me, but then it stopped all of a sudden..
On all three of my Win10 machines, this trainer appears to function normally - "trainer activated" sound etc.. but it doesn't train.. question is why? It used to work, so what changed?
I started by looking at the O/S. I enabled HyperV and built a Win10 image using my version 1511 ISO (the previous anniversary update) and installed / ran the trainer and game. And it works as expected! Success 🙂
I then updated the Hyperv Windows build to the latest update through normal Win updates method to build 1607, and immediately after that the trainer fails to do its magic.. It appears to function normally in terms of hearing "trainer activated" etc., but it doesn't actually do the training part..
I tried every combination possible.. putting the trainer in the game folder, running the trainer first (as admin), running the game first etc. etc.. Every combination I could think of.
The common theme on all these different machines - even virtual ones, is that build 1607 of Win10, the latest build just recently available through windows update, kills my trainer functionality.
I haven't figure out why it does that yet.. I'm still trying to work that one out. But at least I can run a Hyperv build of 1511 and just use the trainer on that. It's not easy to prevent Windows from trying to auto update, but it can be done using Group Policy on the Pro edition.
Anyway, just thought I'd share this info. because it could be useful for anyone struggling or wanting to do their own investigations or diagnostics.
Thanks for all the trainers. You guys at CH are magicians with this stuff and I appreciate the time and effort you put in to making them for all of us
Thanks for this info. I will look into this problem as soon as possible.
