I just ran Total Rome 2 on a Windows 8.1 machine and it opens fine. This tells me 2 things:

    1. Nothing wrong with the trainer
    2. There is something wrong with your computer environment the blocks the trainer.

Again my strong suspicion is that it is Norton as the culprit. Software changes and Norton is no exception to it. Updates cause it to behave differently. Disabling it does not turn off all its modules. I use ESET NOD32 and it doesn't flag the trainer at all and allows it to run with no issues.

Until you run it with Norton temporarily removed completely, I will continue to suspect that is the cause. Direct evidence is absolutely everything in computer troubleshooting.

Akamai NetSession Client I don't know what this was I don't know if it was a vpn, but I deleted it. I don't know where it came from I just remember it asked me for permission a few days ago. answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_other-security/what-is-akamai-netsession-client/6c85ea38-e236-42b4-8c02-ea425d5658dc Looked at that and was like whatever allow, but now I uninstalled it. Other than that I went to network settings looked at VPN and it asked if I wanted to add one so I don't think so. I am connected to my router through a ethernet cable. Then I went to internet explorer and the gear in the corner. From there I went to internet options and to the advanced tab. Pressed reset button and then restarted my computer. Still that didn't work. I uploaded a video so you can see what I see with all of them. I'll also upload a video to show you how I used to get them to work with norton and windows, but the way I described it before is pretty much it and all of them worked before. www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FIqZdHEjIA&feature=youtu.be

I'm out of suggestions. Looks like a complete Windows reinstall in your future.

@Neo7 @PWizard Wait a sec. Didnt a haxor file or whatever it was called cause CH trianers to fail in the past? Could it be something like that causing the issue.

I might be grabbing at straws here.

Have you got any other protection than Norton? Have you disabled Windows Defender?

Run Steam in admin mode, Run all trainers in admin mode, Uninstall Norton and choose another AV.

As Neo has pointed out that W8 and up only use IE 10 or up. Also that the trainers use IE Files. IE is needed to be on your system!

Also note that older games will most likely use trainers that need IE9 on the system which means having Win7.

There really is not much else can be said.

    Hi Toki,

I'm using Win7 and the latest IE version is 11.

To use older trainers for older games you have to go down to Windows XP and IE 8 or 9.

Can go to Vista too but it's buggier than XP
