In skyhold treasury there is an NPC that asks trivia questions, should you get a few right in a row he says you are a master of trivia blah blah blah then gives boon of spoon.

I found this out by accident via being horrible at ingame trivia, but when you save right after you complete the quest, load back in right away and he should give you another boon of spoon. So for those on console i would imagine this is a fairly easy way to get a lot of gold easily *cant remember what it vendors for sorry* That and you can get highest dps one (3 times i had a 216 219 and 220

im probs a full retard but where is the treasury/vault?

If you go near the stables there should be an entrance to the castle just past it a bit and to the left, go in and there is a library for codex entries a little wine cellar tucked away to the right and the treasury is an open door with gold seen in the background, the quiz dude is in that room.

I went into the vault while exploring Skyhold, but did not see any NPC inside the vault or the large room just outside the vault. I did notice the "Scrooge McDuck" tophat in the piles of gold though. I haven't fully explored Skyhold yet, maybe this NPC pops up later?

if he does show up it has to be later unless OP found the guy on a side quest i missed but my volt is also full of gold bars ect but no npcs.

Yeah it may be, the character that i was talking about had done the grey warden line after entering skyhaven + all of the operations available until then so it could even be a side effect of one of those. I started a new character since i didn't like some of the choices with my mage, so ill let you know when i get there if i can identify what causes him to show up.

So after arriving in skyhold I believe leaving the map and coming back 3 times should have him in the vault. That being said you just need to answer correctly 3 times and on the third time he gives the weapon, then save and load and he should be able to be talked to again. The weapon itself sells for 732 gold.

In my case he didn't ask me duplicate questions. So, after giving me 3 or 4 spoons (save-load after right answer) he just stops talking with me at all.
