Something on your PC is blocking it. Most likely AV, firewall or other security software based on your description. No way for us to know what it is since the other 1,000+ other members using the trainer have reported no such issues. I would recommend doing a Windows clean boot and going from there or perhaps a fresh windows reinstall.

What is it trying to get to that's being blocked? Can you give me a port and address?

I do use a private VPN service to mask my location but I tried it with and without that enabled and same result...

I'll try it one of my VMs later to see if I can narrow it down to a network issue or a windows PC issue.

    It's a simple port 80 call to cheathappens.com.

interesting: the program works fine in the win7 VM but not in my work machine...

I can telnet to port 80 at cheathappens.com just fine...

Hmm, I'll figure this out and let you guys know.

well, I can't seem to get it sorted.. I compared all network settings between the VM (which resides on my personal (host) machine) and the host machine... nothing seems to work.

    I know the following:

    a) I can telnet to port 80 on cheathappens.com from my host and my VM
    b) I have no firewall or antivirus on my host, my VM does have windows firewall turned on
    c) it runs on the VM with IE 11 installed, the host now has IE 10
    d) the network is not blocking it as the VM and host are on the same network
    e) turning off IP v6 and/or all VM networking protocols does nothing
    f) turning off my wireless card (I am wired, the wireless card is just referenced back for the VM to share folders with), does nothing

E & F was me seeing if the odd network config I have would be causing this...

Is there any error log it generates when it crashes that I could review? That would help me a lot...

we cannot help you with this issue any further.. the cheathappens calls to prevent piracy of our trainers are not complicated. so whatever is going on, it is some sort of block via your computer setup, your anti malware, your antivirus, your firewall, or some such other thing..

    best,
    Cal

No, sorry there are no refunds. Most likely not a network setting but a security software which is killing the process by what you describe. Try a complete windows reinstall.

I sometimes get the same issue if I try to move (click & drag) the trainer window before it has fully initialized. As in, before it has verified it's authentic and the little advert in the bottom right corner has loaded. Also, sometimes when I right-click and run as admin. I notice it's usually most stable when I just double-click on it from my file-manager which has previously been started as an admin. Or you could try the offline key, if that's still an option.
Note that only one in every 30 or so trainers have issues for me since the no-trust code was implemented (I really don't like the p-word), and they tend to work when I try a few different approaches. Only twice have I truly not gotten a trainer to work. That's not enough for me to regret my membership.

As for my earlier post, it was not directed at you, but simply a lighthearted comment reminding PWiz about the irony of recommending people to turn off all protection from the big bad interwebz to make a program work that needs to contact that very same interwebz (no matter how valid the reasoning behind it). Apologies if I failed to communicate that properly.
