I am running into the problem that some trainers are crashing during the start-up. For example "The Evil Within", "Alien Isolation", "Ryse", "Sniper Elite 3" or "FF13" are starting up like they should and they work perfectly. I simply click at the respective trainer icon, they start-up, they work. So far, so good.

Other trainers however (f.e. Wastelands 2, Borderlands Pre-Sequel, Grimrock 2 or Doorkickers) are crashing during the start up procedure (at least it seems to happen during the start-up sequence).

I start the trainer, Windows user account control kicks in and asks if I want to run the program, I click at yes and then the "CH"-icon is displayed in the task bar. Afterwards, a (very) small window reading "Customized for: DerekRademacher" is displayed for about one second. Then, the window disappears (the CH-icon in the task bar disappears also) and the annoying "CheatHappens.com has stopped working" message is displayed.

    Problem details read as follows:

Since I already tried the generic good-for-all solution(s) (disable/delete your av, run as admin, disable/delete fw, etc. etc.) I am kinda at loss here. I also tried to update/delete/reinstall the several dotnetfx-Versions which unfortunately did not do nothing to solve this. Also, switching the UAC off (which was my first thought since it's notification only shows up with the trainers that are crashing afterwards) did not help - the small "Customized for: DerekRademacher" windows shows up shortly and then the trainer crashes.

It is kinda obvious that there is some code or script that cannot be run on my rig, however I cannot figure out what it is that is interfering with the trainer. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance, a slightly confused DerekRademacher.

Reinstall .NET framework 4.5 (and open the event viewer and see if it tells you any detail)

This is something blocking the trainer from running. AV, firewall or other security software or OS permissions. You may have to completely uninstall all of those until you figure out what it is. You can also try clearing your Windows temp folder and making sure you have full permissions for that folder.

Well, I already reinstalled 4.5 but no prob, I reinstalled it once again. The problem remains unfortunately. The event viewer shows that an application error occured

not sure what this means. Could be something is preventing the trainer from accessing the temp folder - which is wierd because I made sure it can be accessed (and other (ch-)trainers and apps can access the folder just fine). Could be that the dotnetframework 4.0 is broken. However I already wiped 4.0 from the hd using dotnetfx cleanup and reinstalled it - did not help obviously. Could also be - like PWizard already wrote - that something in the OS (Win7) besides admin rights and UAC prevents the start of the trainers. However why doesn't it interfere with the other trainers then? This is not making sense. Although... it is Windows we're talking about. A neverending source of frivolity and happiness. Wah!

I'll go and give it another try tomorrow, as for know I am just to tired to rant me through Windows innards. Thanks for your input (same thanks goes to PWizard) and help. I'll get back to you later.

    Cheers, DerekRademacher.

Try re-downloading the trainers that are affected. Microsoft mucked up a lot of applications that were meant to run on older versions of Windows. Patch Tuesday for August, September, and now October have really been screwing things up and it could be that some of the older dependencies were miffed or removed. Its like Microsoft completely renders any version of Windows that they feel is "outdated" or they screw up older versions by patching "security holes" in order to force people into buying the newer operating systems. I read an article that said the biggest security hole in all of the more recent Windows OS's was the fact that MS update could establish a remote connection with a legitimate copy of Windows at will and force the download and install of modified code. The author was half-joking but he's right in a very real way.

OK, my give up. I tried nearly everything in the book aka troubleshoot guide and even combinations of the provided solutions - nothing works.

Also offline certification doesn't work with these trainers. So my wild guess is, that Wrythe1985 is correct about a Windows 7 update that has killed off or messed up some functions. MAYBE there is some code present in the non-functional trainers that isn't used in those that are working fine and well - could be, could not be.

Thanks to all who tried to help looking for a solution; I guess it will be kinda a little bit like playing the lottery concerning future trainers, since some of the new ones that came out are working quite fine nonetheless (Lord of the Fallen, f.e.).

    Cheers (and thanks again), DerekRademacher.
