if you have to wait 1 hour for it to decompress, and copy from one folder to another?
I could have just downloaded the game fresh and it would have been faster.. seriously..
best,
Cal
Lol, it has never taken me that long, usually just takes me like 10 minutes.. Hmm I think your HDD is being killed by all the trainer making or maybe you were just unlucky
There is a better reason, if a well known AAA title that everyone wants is being released, you can be sure the steam servers globally will take a hammering.
That is the point of pre-loading, so you can get the data before release date (bar the usual missing files that come out on release day) and not try your luck and hope you can get a decent speed to download the full game on the day of release.
Nothing worse than downloading 8gb+ at slow speeds.
DAB's point is on the mark from my point of view. Failing to pre-load increases the likelihood of an extremely slow DL. Aside from that, when it comes to a corrupted DL and install... there is ultimately no means of determining whether that would have occurred regardless of acquiring the data pre or post launch.
At least with downloading it early, should the file be corrupted you can identify that promptly and immediately start downloading the title with the larger pool of users on the server. If you did not pre-load and discovered the failed install after download, you would be stuck in a position of entering into that overcrowded server queue twice during the period it will be experiencing its largest number of user access.
Ideally, you simply pre-load and install sans issues. Worst case scenario with the early install... you only end up downloading once during the server's peak utilization.
