I think I'm the only one (or one of extremely few) that has a dedicated sound card. Mine is a sound blaster and if anyone else has one, they have fixed the surround sound not working in build 10166.

I have two dedicated external sound cards, one is integrated in my usb mixer which is my main sound and the other is a 5.1 external sound card of my headset.
Win7 is killing me with the SC drivers, it wont save my main sound output no matter what I do, after a restart or log out or even after turning my screen off the main sound output always is the headset by default.
Only if I uninstall the drivers of the two then it will save the main output but then these cards are usless.
These problems do not exsit with win8 because the drivers probably are more compatible with the newer os.
I hope I wont get any issues with win10.

It was really wonky with earlier builds but got more stable. I think they're good overall now.

Not extremely rare – since the dark ages I use SB cards, until today I have 3 PCI SB X-Fi Gaming/ Music cards with Daniel K.'s modified driver.

And they even come with Win X support.

Windows 10 has reached RTM status. This also signals the transition from Insider Preview support channels (i.e. a very hands on approach to fixing bugs) into production O&M support meaning that bug fixes will be much more strictly controlled and rolling out much less frequently.

Build 10240 is currently out to Insider Preview users and is on a different branch than previous ones (most likely a production staging one or production itself). It is a release candidate but unsure if it is the signed off RTM version. It also signals that a total code freeze has likely happened on the OS meaning only critical issues from this point forward will be fixed.

@Neo7, do you know if Windows 10 will be any smaller footprint wise. As far as the system resources it will use and space it will require? I have a very high end system so I am not too worried, I was just curious. I have already reserved my upgrade. Lastly, what are you thoughts on the new Start button? Will the new Start button really feel like we finally get the real deal back, like in versions prior to Windows 8?

I don't actually know this. The PC I'm using to test is not very well suited for this as it's also very high end. There are some reports of it running on some abysmal hardware like this one perfectly fine though:

    Tablet specs:
    WiFi & Bluetooth
Intel Atom Z3735G Quad Core BayTrail-T Processor
    7" Touch Screen
    Microsoft Windows 8
    1GB RAM
    32GB Storage
    Integrated Graphics

Still though it's a hit or miss with hardware like that. If the hardware isn't properly supported with modern drivers, you're probably going to run into problems.

Start button I don't have any problems with. I wasn't super finicky with it unlike the out-cry in Windows 8. Your mileage will vary.

Yeah I heard about that along with the three zero-day vulnerabilities found in Adobe Flash. It exploits the way Windows handles OpenType fonts via a specifically crafted file sent via e-mail attachment or malicious site (or malicious ad) and allows for remote code execution.

Mircosoft thought it was important enough to warrant an emergency out-of-band patch.
