Gotta love those Aussies. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is suing Valve over their No Refund policy. That has ticked me off on more than one occasion. Goes to court in Sydney on October 7.

I'm not 'At' anything pertaining, just admiring from afar (USA) the Aussies for being 'at' it. Wishing our FTC or the like would join the fray.

After Valve has officially accept, allows & confirmed that early access titles never HAVE TO BE FINISHED... I think I know where the wind is blowing from (German old saying).

Would you mind expanding on that 0x90? I'd really like to hear what you have to say about it.

I hate the whole process and I will no longer buy a game at retail. I wait until the first or 2nd sale now, there's just too much junk out there and I think Steam/Valve's policies have a lot to do with it. And unless they start requiring more of these developers and publishers, it may get worse before it gets better.

Well I want to say is that a company like Valve which owns 90% of the market, should really care a little bit more about their CUSTOMERS. It doens't mean they have to accept every refund, but they should protect their customers against rip offs.

In my eyes, the system leads to be abused, but who should blame developers when the market, Valve, officially allows that behavior.

The problem is that consumers keep buying the latest crap that they put out
i have stopped getting any preorders or any new games now till a month or more has passed
i do keep up with the news and the progress here at CH too see how many updates are put out for the games

The players can make a big impact on sales and that means the bottom line for game makers and that's the only way too get there attention (CASH FLOW)

I once read this post in the forums when I was looking up something about DRMs and SecureROM. As you can see, it's mostly in support of the whole Valve/Steam process. And it's not my post so it's fair game.
    ---------------------------------------------------

I look at steam more as a service that hacks the game for me so I do not have to put the CD or DVD in the stupid ROM drive, to prove I bought something.

It makes so I do not have to talk to (offensive text deleted - insert favorite name here) for long periods. I have great games to play with headphones on at night.

It allows me to play my games at cyber-cafe's and friends houses.

It updates games for me so I never, EVER have to wait in line on Fileplanet for patches. (Scroo you game-spy inc.!)

It protects my purchase, I never have to worry about wearing out CD's or DVD's from scratching them.

Valve thinks outside the box... With steam you NEVER HAVE TO HANDLE THE BOX!! (They will handle your box for you!)

Now if it only could make me coffee I would be very happy with it.
    ---------------------------------------------------

I happen to agree with SOME of those, not all. And I also think we here at CH see things maybe a little differently than some other groups of people. That's because we're all very sensitive to the blasted updates and unfinished games.
