I've never played Assassin's Creed (gasp!)but would like to give one of the series a try. Which one is the best in your collective humble opinions?

IMO from best to worst

AC II
AC Brotherhood
AC IV: Black Flag
AC III
AC I
AC Revelation's

You can't go wrong with either of the top 3

Now here's my list:
AC2
AC Black Flag
AC Revelations
AC Brotherhood
AC3
AC1

This matches the list in the order I would put together. If I were you I'd try AC2 as it is the best single example to see if you enjoy the franchise. If you do I'd then suggest working through them in order as the story flows from one game to another.

Personally I think it's a great series of games - enjoy, whichever one you do decide to try.

AC2 was the redemption of AC1 at least in my opinion, but yeah AC2 is the one to go for if you wanna try, if you like it, go in order and complete it. However, don't be fooled, brotherhood is the third not AC3 for it here's the order:

AC1
AC2
ACB
AC3
ACR
ACBF

i would advise you to start from the beginning, as the story is connected, and starting at the second game, you would miss out on alot

I had forgotten all about AC1 by the time I played AC2, so and I can honestly say I didn't feel I missed out on anything, it felt very good explained.
