I have yet to purchase a console, and I think I'm missing things. So I'm looking for detailed suggestions on what console will give me the best bang for the buck.

Personally I wouldnt really touch the next Gens just yet. If you do not have a PS3 I advise you to get a PS3 500GB SuperSlim their latest PS3.

In relation to this topic, I'm considering getting a new Playstation console as an "upgrade" from my PS2. The PS2 has been good to me, but I think it might be time to get a new one. Does anyone have any thoughts on a PS3 versus a PS4? If they're not that much different, I'd much rather save money and go with the PS3 since I'm a poor law student...

The only winning move is not to play.
PC Master Race. Only use my PS3 to stream Netflix.

Advice on Console's what?
Honestly right now the next-gen consoles kind of suck. There's no games for any of them and they're all stupidly expensive.
Wait until E3 happens this year before you make a purchase (june 11th-12th). That's when they make all their big announcements. I have a feeling that Nintendo is going to announce that Gamecube games are going to be downloadable on the Virtual console (Link), and if that's the case, then get a Wii U. It's already the cheapest next gen console, it has about 5 playable games (compared to the 2 or so for the Ps4 and One) and it has smash brothers on the way later this year.

Ok looks like the general consensus it to wait a bit. I can do that. Lets see what comes over the horizon then. Thanks much everyone!

Yeah I'd definitely wait on it if you're thinking about buying one of the new consoles. If you're looking for old gen consoles, I'd recommend either the PS3 or the 360 because the Wii was just not up to par in terms of quality games (though it did have a few good ones). If you're also taking handheld systems into consideration, the 3DS has been fabulous for me.

The reason why I'm just now starting to get interested in the console's is this. I've seen a lot of good looking games out there for console. I've been a PC gamer for centuries, and while PC is great, and at times I think better than a console, the console's are starting to catch up. So I'll take ya all's advice and wait see and then ask again. Remember Keep gaming.
