Go into Steam's Offline mode after updating, DS2 has an offline mode. ^-^
If you can't get that to work, skidrow (Bad Word) has it's own version up and I'm pretty sure it doesn't connect to steam servers. haha

I suggest first purchasing a legitimate copy of DS2 for Multi-Player then torrenting a cracked version for Single-Player for use with a Trainer. That way you aren't really breaking the law as you legitimately own the game.

And you don't get banned from their servers for using a trainer(assuming one gets released)

Win/Win for both the player AND the dev.

Edit: I done this with many games I own on steam due to cheat protection in steam's version. EG: Realms of Ancient War (owned on steam but torrented version required for cheating purposes.

Purchasing a legit copy of a game does not legally entitle you to pirate it.
When you resort to software piracy you not only download the game but share it as well (it's the essence of P2P), which is still illegal.

As for the first part of what you said last time I checked if you proof of purchase you can download it because you dont pay for the data you pay for a license to own the games data and as for "you not only download the game but share it as well" thats just plain wrong because you can choose not to upload the data/seed it.

I'm not sure if any one has mentioned it specifically, but Dark Souls 2 uses VAC. If you have any previous VAC bans on record, you cannot even go online.

There is no actual ingame option to go offline. You will need to disconnect your internet connection then launch the game for it to force you offline.

Now, I do not know if it still has the VAC protection while playing offline. But apparently if you do re-enable your internet connection while playing (even if playing 'offline') and go back to the main menu, it will auto reconnect you so you are online. So you may want to be extra careful when using the trainer.

It's a shame there's no actual offline option ingame. I would far rather the play it that way.

Sorry, but where did you read that Dark Souls 2 uses VAC? Usually the Steam store tells if you a game is using VAC. Sorry, but this is bull**** what you're telling us.

Read the Steam community forums. There's a fair few threads on it. It may not be on the store page, but the majority of people reporting that they cannot go online are all VAC banned (which you can see by looking at their profiles).

@FIratha Maybe they patched the option in for the US version. I have the JP one and I can assure you, there was no such option when it released last night (note that the game released for us 7 hours before the rest of the world). Or, you may have been playing when they had the DS2 server offline for maintenance.

Right al just point out. If anyone is using the trainer in the MP/invasion part of the game you are breaking all the rules. Plus the trainers here are not for that! If you say you do then. I have say you do not deserve to have access to trainers then.

Cheat the game do not cheat other players.

Also as to VAC protected games. There is not mention of it being inclueded. It could be possible that they are using a list of VAC banned players and not allowing the to access. But if it is using VAC it should have been labeled in the store and in game somewhere.

Oh and esteysa. I dont know if that will get your banned. But if some one reports you because its high stats. You might.

I read some steam discussion. Aperantly there is a server problem. Some VAC banned players can play DS2. Also VAC ban is per game specific ban
