In an Interview with RPS, global producer Tak Miyazoe said that that Dark Souls 2 will have some sort of cheat protection.

In Dark Souls it was possible to keep god mode on and such while invading/being invaded.

Now, I'm worried that we might be facing consequences when using a trainer now.

For the lazy people, I will quote it for you:
"We have found that it is difficult to eliminate all types of cheating on the PC platform, and ultimately we hope that players pick up the game and play with honor while enjoying the level balancing and designs that we have implemented. We have put in efforts to secure the game as much as possible, but in the end, we depend on the fan loyalty to enjoy the true experience we have designed."

I didn't mind the cheating going on during invasions. In fact, it lead to many entertaining moments when I'd come across someone who was invincible, so I'd turn my invincibility on, and we'd spend a while practicing combat with each other, communicating through gestures.

But maybe it would be possible to have invincibility set us to "offline" mode so that invasions are turned off while the cheat is active?

In the end, it doesn't bother me much. I want to be able to cheat for my single player experience. While I enjoyed having others come in to my game to help fight bosses, I was never much for the PvP aspects.

I hope DS2 will have a true-offline mode, with no PvP and such.

As far as I know it doesn't. Though you might be able to just block its access to the net to force it to be solo.

I hate when games force MP in my SP experience. It shows that their "ideas" trump the players personal preference.

Yes and no. While it can be annoying for some games where multiplayer is some half baked aspect that's tacked on after the fact, the multiplayer system in Dark Souls is a key concept.

Dealing with other players, either by seeing grey ghosts, touching bloodstains, reading messages, summoning aid or fighting invaders... it's all part of the core game.

But that's my point. It's a shame that what the developers consider (and many others) part of the core game overrides those other opinions or even unable to compromise by just simply adding an offline mode.

Go into Steam's Offline mode after updating, DS2 has an offline mode. ^-^
If you can't get that to work, skidrow (Bad Word) has it's own version up and I'm pretty sure it doesn't connect to steam servers. haha
