I'm stuck, i cant upgrade anything when i goto the campfire, apart from skills, the 2 other partitions are unavailable. I have the pickaxe and 100 parts for the upgrade but still when i go back to the campfire it wont allow me stating unavailable, has this happened to anyone? what can i do now? restart the game and try again?

omg like nevermind. i had to see the cutscene for the next bit first then only it would allow me to upgrade my gears

Yep, it's incremental, you still have to do the steps (and collect artifacts) to open more upgrades.
