Kind of disappointing if it doesn't work with the DLC.. I tried getting the game through the request while the game was on sale for a few $ but It took longer then I expected to get the required points..

I found a work-around. You can uninstall the Elves DLC by un-clicking the checked little box beside the DLC name under the DLC category. (You can find it on the right side of the screen when you left click on the game's title in your Steam Games List. Use the first View Mode of the three- the one which shows more details.) The game updates a bit after that, however you can use the trainer normally after that since it's the base game already.
