Im pretty much sure they declared it would be a dead avenue at one point.

Guess that was to stop the noseyness >.<

They sure won't write off the whole series when there's more left to milk out of it. And it won't even surprise me if BW brings out a Mass Effect MMORPG in the next couple of years.

I remember them talking about a spin-off indeed, before ME3 was released. I don't remember at all that they said the license would be over.

As long as it works, there is no reason to stop. I think we have enough examples, but let's name a few that could have stopped before now (though I like most of them):

AC, Dragon Age (ah, Bioware as well), Call of Duty,...

As for a MMORPG, I would actually be surprised, since SWTOR (which I like as well) is quite a disappointment for a lot of people.

I think ME4 will still give everything we wait for, and well, I wouldn't be surprised to get a few "cameo" by some characters (maybe even secondary ones) from ME series.

It can't be a continuation after ME3 for two reasons.

One: The new Mass Effect game is presumably being developed for next-gen consoles, which are infamously known for not being backwards compatible, meaning you could not carry your save files over from everything you've done in the Shepard trilogy. Even if it wasn't a continuation of Shepard's story (which the devs have said it won't be) but instead a game capturing the galaxy's struggle and rebuild after the Reaper invasion, and even if somehow the game could read the save files you have on your previous console, Bioware would essentially have to make three or four different games to satisfy whatever ending the player chose at the end of Mass Effect 3.

No, I'm not forgetting about PC gamers, as they wouldn't run into the same issues as console gamers, but again I state that Bioware would essentially have to make a handful of different games if they were going to continue the storyline.

Two: Bioware said Shepard's story is over. The Reaper invasion and everything after is Shepard's story. We're going back in time.

I'm hoping for some Krogan Rebellions up in here.

tl;dr, no more Shepard, we're going back.

PS. I know I'm missing part of my argument, but I just cannot for the life of me pinpoint it. Will edit when I remember.

I hope it will be something else, rather then Rachni war or first contact something new, maybe some years after the reapers are gone some enemy like the one shepard findes in the ocean world have not played all the dlc.

Maybe that race will be the new "reaper" threat to the universe.
I am an old gamer and i need my trainers to help me complete them these days so i have started to look at what trainer options i have for my games and Cheat happens tend to not disappoint so thank you for the game enjoyment i can still have.

It can be fun to play, but i think they should have just done 8 games, each one for each class and stuck to single player, that way they could have kept the whole companion system like Kotor.....perfection.

I mean, with Kotor, i could use any companion combo and still do well on any difficulty, while certain combos were more better, it was still possible with combos that min-maxers called crap.

When it comes to Swtor, the whole companion system becoming a mini-trinity system just ruins the fun and making the performance of your character based solely on its role and your companions, if you pick 2 dps, you will have a lengthy downtime, especially when facing an elite.

I just hope bioware doesn't screw up ME4 with a 3 colour ending or at the end of a trilogy after saying importing a character throughout the trilogy will make an impact.....when it really doesn't make much difference at all.
