Hey-o. I'm picking my classes for next semester and would like some help making the final decisions.

Option 1: 3 English classes, and 1 Government class. Monday/Wednesday from Noon to 5:45 pm.

Option 2: Monday/Wednesday from Noon to 1:15, break, then class from 3-5:45, and my Government class from 7-9:50pm on Mondays only.

So should I be in class from Noon to nearly 6pm on Monday/Wednesdays, or take a break after the first class and just stick around for Monday nights? If you need any more information, feel free to ask.

    I'd go with option 1.

Better to have stiff legs from too much sitting than be potentially bored out of your gourd half the afternoon.

But option 1 will require you to have assignments done before the day of class.

During this semester, did you use break time wisely (if you had any)? If so, Option 2. Else, Option 1. Even if you "know you'd be better about the break this time around", I'm speaking from experience - it's a very rare occurrence to break the habit of avoiding studies during break time.

IMO, and from personal experience... limit downtime between courses. I believe you will find it is often beneficial to keep them "chunked" as it alleviates the potential for a motivation kill during the break time.

This of course may vary greatly if you are an ADHD type... then the break period may be necessary to maintain adequate focus.

My personal preference is option one.
That is the smartest thing I have ever heard anyone say about anything.

I did have a break very similar to the one suggested, but it was mainly used for recreation/consumption of sustenance. I think on the whole, however, I study better at school than at home.

That all being said, I was leaning towards option two. Due to forces beyond my control, on the other hand, I was forced into option one. Well, option with two class changes. Same time slots, just different classes, which was quite serendipitous.

I it won't be as bad as it might seem at first. You can grab lunch before and dinner after classes, and you have 2 or 5 days between classes which means weekends are your friends for homework and being ahead. Good luck!

In grad school you learn to hate day classes.
