Are the trainers safe to use on Steam games? Will I get in trouble with VAC?

Ask Valve.

I'm using them without issue. I never use a Trainer on multi, however. I've used trainers in the following games, single player, and they work mint.

Max Payne 3
Civ 5 (Brave New World)
Tomb Raider
Hitman: Absolution
How to Survive
Fallen Enchantress
Inquisitor
Command and Conquer 3
Mortal Kombat

There may be some others but these are relatively new/popular titles. Never do multi with a trainer. That's just asking for trouble, and it ruins the gameplay for others.

Edit: You may want to consider putting Steam into offline mode if you're a bit paranoid.

You should be fine. As long as you do not use them on any mp game or with any game that puts a score on an online board for sp.

The obvious thing to ask yourself is:

Will my cheating affect anyone else's online experience?

If the answer is even slightly "yes". Then you can end up with a VAC ban, yes.

Also anything that stores stats as in games like zombies for COD, etc. If they are ever reviewed, it may become painfully obvious that you're cheating and you could end up banned.

As for me.. I've been hex-editing, even debugging and tracing pointers for fun for the last 15 years and been using the trainers on this site since they save some time for a few years now.. never gotten a VAC ban.
