Had this convo on the virginmedia forums, the OS will be free... but I have a sneaky suspicion they will force you to buy the Steam PC.
Which is dumb, just use your own PC with an HDMI or DVI cable to the TV... Tada Playing steam games on da TV :P
Steam PC as in the Steam Machine? Of course they'll make you buy that. Nobody hands out PCs for free. Do they? If so, I want one!
Unless you're talking about the streaming capabilities mentioned. In which case, I agree - a wired hookup would be the obvious solution, unless your system is in an immovable position and it's an absolute necessity to stream.
SteamOS has potential as a way to unite linux users, because most want to use steam more efficiently.
SteamMachines are made by each manufacturer, so it will be as varied as ultrabooks and quality will be ****.
The controller looks terrible. Hard to judge without using it.
360 controller is the most perfect controller on the market.

I disagree on the 360 controller whole-heartedly... it is too bulky.
Getting back to the topic at hand however, I have been keeping up as best I can lately... gone through the handful of steps to qualify for the hardware beta etc.
Still, I have not been keeping tabs on the all of the details coming out. I assume this Steam Machine will be the equivalent of another console rather than a PC?
I don't care who makes it, I am never purchasing a brand name PC... you always get taken to the cleaners paying for a name and still come up way short with performance...
Now would you look at that, I actually managed to go off topic twice in once post!
