Don't know then, its defiantly working for me, I got both 99 Karma and 99 skill points.
You have to open the upgrade menu BEFORE pressing the 6 & 7 key.
Once you're in there say the Karma screen, press the number then exit. The go back into the screen.
Its worked 3 times now. Bloody game keeps reminding me that I have 99 points on each, but hey...lol

Same thing happens to me, I have one karma point, go into the skills menu and press the key for more skill points, then exit and return to the skills menu. It shows me having zero karma points.
Well, I just turned on the game again, and now it worked even though I had no karma skill points. Why it worked now when it didn't work before, I have no idea. I did the exact same steps as before, but it worked. I also didn't have a skill point. I did use the experience button a few times before I hit the skill button, perhaps that was the trick.

I can confirm that the trainer options are still working, as of 2:56 am ET.
