Hello. It might be because of the way steam handles save games. The save files in the 'userdata' folder is only a back-up, in case something happens to the primary files in "C:\Users\******\AppData\Local\Game Dev Tycoon - Steam\Local Storage" Steam then copies the missing files to the Locale Storage folder when you start the game. So the way I did it was simply to edit the slot_1 file in steam. (For me it was "E:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\*your steam id*\239820\remote\slot_1" And then delete the files in 'Locale Storage' And then start the game. It will by default load the autosave on startup. Then you just load the slot you edited. Works everytime for me.

EDIT: For it to work, you might have to disable Steam Cloud for Game Dev Tycoon.
It can be done through Steam, right click Gave Dev Tycoon, click properties. Click the UPDATES tab and finally untick the 'Enable Steam cloud synchronization for Game Dev Tycoon.

Also, you can max out your team's skills in all the areas of making a game.
Such as Design, Gameplay, Sound, Graphics, Dialogue and so on. Just find the lines in the slot_1 file.
Look for the name of each skill. Such as "id":"Graphic","xp": and the set the numbers to 21000.
It will max it out at level 12. You can do this for all the skills, and it will unlock all the research for that particular skill also.

This has become rage inducing, All I wanted to do was give myself a money crutch, I can't find the files i need to edit on steam, the CH trainer apparentley is incomplete and not fully functioning according to 0X90, and I can't even do it the old fashioned way with notepad ++ or SQLite Viewer, And my old save game editors are no longer compatible with either version, steam nor regular greenheart website download.


Every time I do change the money value, I load up the save, and the change hasn't applied. even though I open up the save slot a second time and the number I changed it to is still there.

If you're playing via Steam, you should make sure you're in online mode.

For some reason, when I edited the cash value in my files, it reverted when I reloaded.

Then I switched Steam to online mode, and it worked!

Also, and you probably already know this, but make sure the game isn't running when you make the changes.

Do you mean offline mode? because I think most people are always on online mode unless otherwise specified

The trainer isn't incomplete nor not fully functioning. It's working.

Open up your savegame file called: slot_X where X represents the slot number. If you only have one savegame it should be slot_1

Then check if money, research points and fan numbers on the editor fit with your values ingame. If this is the case then everything is fine. Just press the buttons. Now launch the game and continue, you'll still see old values correct? Press escape key and click on "load", select your savegame (NOT AUTOSAVE) and voila.

PS: The problem is that the game auto loads the AUTOSAVE game file if you start the game. So most people think changes don't apply but they simply forgot to load the correct savegame.

Search in the file for ResearchPoints

everytime I change the money or research points it just purely crashes when I get out of the garage do the skill for team management.

Is there a maximum number?? as in, if its higher then that, it goes boom??

Before, I would always get issues if I changed fan numbers or skill values, the save game would become corrupt, so I try only to edit money values.

also, 0X90, I meant the save game editor portion wasn't working, isn't that what you said on the previous page?

I must be looking in the wrong spot, because when using your trainer, I'm trying to open the file__0 from the local/gamedevtcoonsteam/localstorage file, I can't find individual save files for individual save slots.

if I try to open file__0, it just says "I was unable to locate your gold amount" or something like that, So I assume that is not the file i'm supposed to be opening.
