Ok.....WTF STEAM!!!!!!! I specifically had this game on "DO NOT UPDATE", princely because trainer is not ready. So what happens??? Dam steam decides to update the game the moment i launch it, this is BS, why even have that option if its just gonna ignore the setting??? I'm just gonna have to keep steam off line from now on, beyond ****ed.

Steam force every single game to be updated for multiplayer purposes, even singleplayer games has forced updates.

The option "do not automatically update this game" simply means that it wont update untill you click play.

I know useless right ? and if you put the game in offline mode you won't get achievements.

I usually crack the games i purchase or save a backup copy, cause i know how steam works by now.

Hey I was wondering, I know the game is a whopping 30gb, but you guys know how the game automatically updates if your online. For the people that bought the game with disc and still want to play using the trainer that didn't have any issues with the previous version, would it be feasible to uninstall it, then reinstall in offline mode then just run the first trainer and just play the previous version for now with that. Would that work for now?

duno, i was thinkign the same, i have the disc version (cause it was cheaper) but, my save game was made after the first patch, so it probably wont work with the original version.

Steam some times updates my installed games that I have never played before.

I wasn't expecting today's unscheduled update of Rome 2. I normally have my steam client in offline mode for new releases.

I just remembered that steam needs to be online to install games, so not matter what you pretty much cant refer back to an original version hey. Go online to install then reintall it and it will still update once it has been reinstalled
I hate steam, theyre good for nothing!

The only other thing you can do is copy the RTW2 from Steam and put it on another drive as backup. So if it does update you can copy the backup to steam just make sure you are offline.
