You are the one that appears to have his "knickers in a twist". I've been running 8.1 for two months now and it has caused zero problems with every trainer I have tested.
What has caused a problem is AVast suddenly and randomly blocking our trainers for no apparent reason.
This particular game has loads of anti-cheat triggers and protections built into it. We have done our best to circumvent them but they are ever-present and will cause issues. We are not game "crackers" and will not spend days and weeks trying to re-write several portions of the game code just for them to add even more random triggers with the next game patch which will likely happen every few days for the next year or two, just like all the other Total War games.
So, take what we have created or simply don't use it, either way is fine. We've done our best with what we have to deal with and that's all we can do.

Hey rick I had the same problem with the money cheat, so what I did was I kept the trainer with the broken money (have had very few crashes, money just doesn't work), then my little bro installed this mod you can get on steam that does a lot of cool stuff, but mainly it makes it so EVERYTHING costs one dollar. And with the other aspects of the mod, plus the working parts of the trainer, it is actually much better then using just the trainer. I know its not ideal but Rome 2 is seriously one of the only games I play and it really works well for me SO FAR.
I'd like to believe that, but since the 8.1 upgrade there are crashes all over the place for me. Also, the money cheat has stopped working (it flashes up as 999999 and then goes back to original amount - and if you are really lucky it goes to -999999 and ruins your game... AGH!).
I've had a lot of permissions problems after installing 8.1 so please don't tell me out of hand it cannot have "nothing to do with anything". In fact it is very likely to be a post installation problem I have to deal with myself(as will various other users). No need to get knickers in a twist.
as I stated previously, YOU DONT HAVE THE LATEST TRAINER.
please delete and redownload the trainer. If you are still getting the money problem, then your windows is giving you a cached version of the old trainer and not a new one (unlikely).
there was a hotfix that total war rome 2 crapvelopment team put out like 1 hour after we posted our original trainer. the new trainer works.
if you give the trainer admin priviledges, it should be able to access the game in all flavors of windows.
