    You don't have to set steam to offline mode. Just set Total War to not auto update. Right click the game in the library pane and click properties. Click the update tab and set it to not auto update.

    click on "steam" then "go offline". It's what I'll be doing the second the trainer is updated.
    Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to game free and cheat for a very reasonable price.

    I had mine set to not update, still updated. Steam is really finicky, "do not update" has always had a checkered chance at best. One of (maybe even the only) the things that ****es me off about Steam. Going into Steam Offline sucks when I use Steam regularly to chat with friends.

    Wrong, all this option does is prevent steam from updating the game as soon as the update is available, it will still update as soon as you try to launch the game.
