Has anyone successfully completed the Panzer Theft Medal where you have to Recrew and repair a Panzer IV tank during the Winter Defense Challenge?

At what point does the enemy abandon their vehicles? I've tried to get this medal, but to no avail. The tank blows up every time.
Is there a secret to getting this?

I was playing the mission and when using the AT gun, the crew suddenly abandoned the tank. I don't remember if there's something special to do (using the AT crew ability or something perhaps?)

The "secret" is to have a save just before you're attacking the tank, both in this challenge as well as any other that want you to recrew stuff.

I'm not sure how the mechanism itself works, whether it's pure chance or damage made, but abandoned vehicles are rare. So just save, and retry.

I've been doing that and I have to say I've tried at least 20 times and nothing yet lol. Once it went out of control and the crew abandoned it, but it blew up

This is a tough medal to get!

Ah guys... have you tried using the Russian rifle guard troops at all? I've actually captured over 20+ German vehicles since I bought the game in late July. With capturing Russian vehicles, I had some good luck using the flak panzers (5+). hope this helps a little guys.
