    1: You have a path:

    -

2: Click on any point on the path. You can now add a maneuver.

3: WEIRD CONTROLS! Play around with them. They do things.

    -

4: After playing with the controls, your dotted line is your estimated new path after completing the indicated maneuver.

5: You now have a blue target on your Navball and a little bar to its right. Orient your ship so that it's pointing in the direction of the blue dot. Once you reach the indicated point on your path (noted by the text "Node in T - [time]), fire your rockets.

6: Here I am halfway through the indicated burn. Once the bar is empty, shut down your engines.

7: New path! I either didn't orient properly, or I didn't meet my burn time target... but I got very close. And now I'm in orbit!

@Thrawn: yeah, the video illustrated that well, but there is a reason I didn't study math or physics. I think part of my problem is that I can't get my exit trajectory right, so I have to get the orbit thing done fast so I screw it up by not taking the time to do it right.

@Latios: I'M A MONSTER! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! *rips apart condo*

Dhampy, you're forgetting the KSP motto:

    More rockets.

With infinite fuel enabled, I just took the one-man capsule and a small fuel tank as a fuselage and put six mk55 engines around its circumference. It goes so fast that I can't respond in time to keep it on any orbit. It's the one that's on a 98 year trip.

Play with some of the stock craft. The Kerbal X is a great starting point.

    Also, download MechJeb: Link

MechJeb is a thing you bolt to your craft that gives it a working autopilot you can program.
