The 'trainer' part of the trainer works flawless with the steam version. The savegame editor part doesn't which I'm going to fix.
For steam, it looks like the problem is that files are being stored in a Steam userdata folder as well, such as:
G:\Steam\userdata\xxxxxx\239820\remote
interestingly it's the raw data though, so you can actually just pop those open in notepad++ and go to town editing them.

Well, the trainer works great with 1.4.3, which is cool, but what I have noticed is the editor part doesn't give much research, fans or money at all when you click on the max button.
For example, if you have 0 research, it just sets it to 99 or if you have 101, it sets it to 999.
Is it a limitation on the game itself? as in, if it gets too much too fast, bam, it crashes??
There is a "limitation" as if you add more digits as there were before you might overwrite anything behind the value.
Personally I just maximize my values, go ingame and let the values increase to get more digits by waiting a few seconds, save the game, tab out and maximize them again, go ingame and load the savegame. This way I've reached more than 10.000 millions cash, 99.999 research points and over 500k fans.
However if you still don't like to editor you can easily do it on your own by editing the savegame but I prefer the editor as it is doing exactly the same in shorter time.
