What is 'resetting' the browser? Reset what? Security settings? Privacy settings?

Again, I'm using the offline authentication key because of the connection issues. The IE settings were irrelevant until recently.

Even if you have FireFox as your default browser, IE9 libraries are still present on your system (windows 8 has IE10 libraries of course).

If the trainers were working before now they aren't, you will need to think of what you have installed since that gap of time that could be affecting the trainers.

As a test put all your trainers in a folder on c:\ called trainers if you would like, and then set the folder to be excluded from your AV scans (can do this is in MSE settings, you can do it with the anti-spyware settings also). Make sure to clear out the scan cache on MSE and your Anti-Spyware apps.

Then re-check, if it works then your security software is blocking them in some way.

Does the offline key no longer work? Remember that the offline key will only function if the network connection is completely ABSENT or DISABLED. It will never work if you are connected to the network or internet.

The trainers are already in an excluded directory. There's nothing running now that wasn't already running a few months ago. I run CCleaner regularly, which clears out those caches.

It doesn't look like a trainer being compatible with Windows 8 is an issue, since the trainers for Red Faction: Guerrilla, Just Cause 2, STALKER: CoP, and The Witcher all work fine.

But do what Pwiz said disable your net connection and try the offline key see if that works, if it doesn't then something is on your system doing something with your trainers.

What is the error message you get when they crash.

Like I said, it's just a regular WER message. 'X Trainer.exe has stopped working'. On some trainers it happens immediately, and others take a couple of seconds.

I'm waiting on the index to finish rebuilding, so I can look at my Programs and Features and see what was installed when in the last few months.

Side note: The Trainer Manager crashes when I click 'Check for Updates', and marks the GTA4: Episodes trainer as having a newer version available.

Also under the 'probably unrelated, but what do I know, not being a programmer or anything' category, very shortly after crashing a CH trainer, my Skype client crashes. I hadn't noticed this earlier because I didn't have it running when trying to run the trainers.
